Half way
through the competition season, and I have had many highs
and lows. Let start with the low - yes there is only one -
Fitness Canada. With a fall on my back tuck - something that
I have been doing for years - 5th place was where the judges
placed me. I had my moment of beating myself up over this
for about 2 days, but hey...there is always another show around
the corner.
Many a fitness competitor had gone through times like these.
Not performing as well as we hoped, not placing as well as
we expected, asking for advice from the judges only to find
out that what we thought we did well on was actually something
they did not find appealing. Then there will be times when
you know you did well and still the judges did not notice
you. I do know how frustrating, if only for a moment the whole
situation can be. I ask myself a few questions after each
show to help put my situation into a perspective that makes
sense to me.
- Under
the current circumstances (life, work, school, family, kids),
- Did
I prepare as well as I could for this show?
- Did
I enjoy competing in this show?
- Did
I learn something new from this show?
- Did
I make at least one new contact? This can include media,
other competitors, sponsors, seamstresses, etc.
- Did
I reach the goal that I set for myself?
Although
I did not meet all the goals that I had set for myself this
year, I did meet some of them, and be proud of those.
For the highs, I did win the Fitness Canada East show in Montreal,
3rd place at the Universe, and 4th at my first Women's Tri-Fitness
show. All were enjoyable to be apart of and I meet many new
competitors this year so far. I had another photoshoot with
Oxygen and a couple of spreads in Oxygen over spring/summer
issues and I am in talks for sponsorship with FAREMON sportswear.
I am excited to be competing at the FAP Nationals once again.
I always have so much fun and laughs with my fellow competitors.
Hanging out with girls that are so similar to yourself makes
you feel so at home. I wish all my fellow competitors positive
workouts, pain free routine practices, an absence of cravings
in their competition diet and we will see you in Redondo on
November 14th.
Take care,
Ally Cat
